Louise is a clinical psychologist based in Sydney, Australia.
Since graduating from the University of Sydney with a Masters Degree in clinical psychology, she has worked in a number of community, hospital, school and university settings. For the past 15 years Louise has been based at the Health Psychology Unit, University of Technology Sydney where she helps teenagers and adults manage a range of personal and psychological challenges. She also gives presentations to school students on managing stress.
For over ten years Louise was a columnist for DOLLY magazine, answering questions in the DOLLY Doctor: Love and Life column. She has also co authored several books. These include Good Thinking: A teenagers’ guide to managing stress and emotions using CBT; DOLLY Doctor: Your body, Your life-every question answered and DOLLY Doctor: The Boy Book).
Louise is passionate about promoting positive mental health and well being. She believes there’s so much to be gained from trying to ‘spread good vibes’. This can be through acknowledging and celebrating kindness; focusing on what there is to be grateful for; encouraging and supporting others (especially when they’re going through tough times), enjoying and appreciating the small things in life and generally seeing what we, as individuals, can ‘add’ to the world.
When she’s not in psychologist mode, Louise is happiest with her family and friends, being anywhere in or around the ocean (especially on the beach at sunrise) and day dreaming about her next travel adventure.
